My name is Ewan Stanton, and I began pursuing photography in June 2024 after suffering a serious rugby injury. I ruptured my ACL and meniscus while playing for Porthcawl RFC in the U14 District D final, when the scrum collapsed on my leg. After the injury, I rested for a few weeks and thought I was ready to play again, not realizing how serious it actually was. During the rugby tour, about five minutes into the first game, I went down again after someone sidestepped me and my knee gave way. When I returned home, I went to A&E in Neath Port Talbot, where the nurse advised me to rest for two weeks. I followed that advice and went back to playing, but within the first 20 seconds of my next game against treorchy, my knee gave way once again. We then visited a Physio specialist at Bridgend Hospital, who recommended an MRI scan. The results confirmed that I had a grade 3 ACL tear and a grade 3 meniscus tear. I had my meniscus surgery on July 11th, 2024, and later underwent ACL reconstruction on April 7th, 2025.In the meantime, photography has become a creative outlet and a way to stay motivated while I recover. Now trying to pressure the hobby of mine into a career.
